#The world of multimedia.

Discuss: record this discussion on your blog.

1. Where do you commonly use multimedia in your daily life? List as many examples as you can.

- Listening to music.
- Watching television.
- Watching videos/movies on the Internet.
- Using headphones.
- Taking photos/videos.
- Animation
- Text

2. What multimedia device or service would you find it hardest to be without? Discuss.

I think i would find it hardest to be without would be my laptop. I depend on my laptop for most of my entertainment needs as well as everything for school and projects. The reason i need this is well for one, it allows me to watch as many videos and movies as i would with the use of the Internet as well, and with this, i am able to have very good quality videos. And with this, it is my biggest source of Internet, as well as access to the Internet such as face book and reading things online, YouTube etc. Another reason is that i depend on it for programs such as word document, photo shop and other programs to complete set homework or assessment to the most efficiency.

3. The video on future directions (third video) has already to some extent come true. What multimedia technologies displayed in this video are already commonly used?

- A device that counts how many steps you take, while exercising such as walking, running. It can also record your heart rate etc.
- Automatic lights.
- Television. (multimedia, can do a range of things)
- Computer.

4. Do you see any advantages/disadvantages to use of such multimedia technology?

Advantages:

- Creates an easier and more efficient way to communicate with others across the world, this makes it easier to see people without virtually being be there side, but you can still communicate with each other, see each other and speak to each other through programs such as Skype. The video shows a more advance way of something similar to the program Skype.
- Easier, faster, more advance.

Disadvantages:

- The more advance and easier it becomes to operate things, the more we have less to do. Such as the television. Before the remote, you had to physically get up and change the channel, but since the remote, all you need is the remote in arms length. This has made us more lazier, by the growing technology being created. Therefore, we are getting more unfit, being coach potatoes.
