A MID or Mobile Internet device is a multimedia capable Mobile device that provides wireless Internet access. They are designed and used for entertainment, information and for location-based services for personal use, rather then using it for cooperate use. A MID is larger than a smart phone although ti is smaller then a UMPC device. 
A UMPC device is a mobile that is a small form factor version of a pen computer. It is consider one of the most innovative machines that have been yet invented. Usually most UMPC devices carry the Microsoft logo. The UMPC is first and foremost a computer. The UMPC is more of a holding computering device, then rather sitting it down on a table and sitting to use it. You would usually hold it like a book, it also supports touch screen making it easier to do task both simple but also complex. 2. What are the difference between a Notebook handheld computing device and Net book handheld computer device?
A net book is more mini in size, as well it has very much less memory. Where as a notebook actually supports the different applications and has faster, but also good space.
The Apple Ipad is thin, although has a large touch screen. I guess you could say it's just a very large version of the Apple Ipod touch, although a lot better and more useful in quality and for applications and so forth. I guess you could say it is very similar to a Net book. They size of the net book screen, would roughly be the size of the Ipad screen, although it doesn't have a keyboard to it being a touch pad. I wouldn't really want to carry around a portable device at the moment, because i have no where to really go, but i guess if i had a office job, i would just prefer a laptop or even a note book. The ipad, although it's very sufficient and easy to use, i would hate constantly having to use Ipad touch keyboards. Since i already have a Ipod Touch, after i while i feel that it is frustrating having to use that keyboard for a very long time. Although if i had to compare the ipad to a net book, i guess i would have to say a net book. Although a Ipad is very awesome, i would find it hard to use, find it hard to support when typing, although it may be great in for entertainment purposes i would like to stick to good old fashion laptops or in this case a net book.
4. Of the three handheld devices - Note book, net book and Ipad, which one would suit your needs and why?
I would have to choose a note book because it's more laptop like. I wouldn't really like a net book because they are rather small, and i prefer typing with a regular keyboard, or a regular sized keypad on a laptop. I have experienced using a net book since my brother recently bought one for no reason (which he regrets because he doesn't really use it) and as well, at school when i needed to borrow a laptop in the library and i received a very small version of laptop. I prefer laptops because they are also portable like the other devices but still i would prefer a notebook/laptop over a net book. I would also prefer a notebook over a ipad because i don't really feel the need for such an expensive thing, that i know i would easily drop. As well as that i hate using touch screen keyboards after a long period of time, and often i type alot on networking sites, for homework and other activities and i know that if i used an ipad for usual Internet/computer activities i wouldn't really like it due to long hours of using a touch screen keypad.
5. If i was looking for a UMPC device with a screen size of 10 inch or less, which would you recommend? Justify your choice.
I think for these cases a net book would be more suited for a 10inch screen, because 10 inch is rather small.
6. How would you envisage students five years from now using one of these devices at school. Select any UMPC/MID device that you have researched that would meet a students needs, justify your choice.
Well students at this school are already using notebooks and net books regularly. In classes and as well in the library. These suit their needs because they aren't as big, depending on the size available. And as well as that it can connect to the Internet and you can also add programs to it to help you more such as microsoft word processors. They suit to the needs if you want to type something up, looking something up on the interent just as any normal computer would be able to do, except it would be portable.
